Stained Glass

Stained glass is referred to coloured glass as a material or to works created from it. TOUGHENED/TEMPERED GLASS
Toughened or tempered glass is significantly stronger than regular glass due to its controlled thermal or chemical treatments. This process involves heating the glass to around 650°C and then rapidly cooling it, which increases its strength. It is ideal for safety applications, as it breaks into small, blunt pieces rather than sharp shards. Toughened glass retains its transparency and other optical properties, making it perfect for windows, doors, and glass walls.
LAMINATED GLASS
Laminated glass consists of two or more layers of glass bonded together with an interlayer, usually made of polyvinyl butyral (PVB). This construction ensures that, even when shattered, the glass remains intact, providing enhanced safety. It is commonly used in applications requiring high strength & impact resistance, such as windshields, skylights, and storefronts. Laminated glass also offers excellent sound insulation and UV protection.
DOUBLE GLAZED UNITS (DGUs)
Double Glazed Units, or DGUs, are composed of two glass panes separated by a spacer filled with air or inert gas. This design improves thermal insulation by reducing heat transfer between the interior and exterior environments. DGUs are highly energy-efficient, helping to lower heating and cooling costs. They also enhance acoustic insulation, making them ideal for residential and commercial buildings in noisy areas.
INSULATED GLASS
Insulated glass consists of multiple glass panes separated by an air or gas-filled space, sealed at the edges. This configuration significantly reduces heat loss and gain, improving the energy efficiency of buildings. Insulated glass units (IGUs) are also effective at reducing noise transmission, providing a quieter indoor environment. They are used in windows, doors, and facades to enhance thermal performance and comfort.
HEAT SOAKED GLASS
Heat soaked glass is tempered glass that undergoes an additional heating process to detect and eliminate nickel sulfide (NiS) inclusions. This extra step reduces the risk of spontaneous breakage, making the glass more reliable for critical applications. Heat soaking ensures that the tempered glass performs consistently under stress. It is particularly useful in high-rise buildings and other structures where safety is paramount.
HEAT STRENGTHENED GLASS
Heat strengthened glass is produced by heating and slowly cooling the glass, resulting in increased strength compared to annealed glass. It is approximately twice as strong as regular glass and can withstand higher levels of thermal stress. Unlike fully tempered glass, heat strengthened glass does not shatter into small pieces but rather cracks in a safer, less hazardous manner. This glass is ideal for applications requiring both durability and structural integrity, such as in facades and overhead glazing.
